Is your website working for you?

July 14, 2026

Your website is working right now.

The question is: is it working for you or against you?

Most small business owners I talk to treat their website like a digital business card. Something to hand people when they ask. A box to check. A place to park some photos and a phone number.

But here's what a website actually is:

It's your best salesperson. It works 24/7. It never takes a sick day. It never has an off day. It never forgets your talking points or undersells your services. And unlike a real salesperson, it can be talking to 500 potential clients at the exact same time.

The problem is most websites aren't built to sell. They're built to exist.

They have a Home page that says "Welcome." They have an About page that's basically a resume. They have a Services page with a list of things the business does. And they have a Contact form at the bottom that maybe 2% of visitors actually find.

That's not a salesperson. That's a brochure from 2009.

A website that actually does the work looks different. It anticipates the questions your visitors are already asking. It speaks directly to the person who is the perfect fit for your business. It builds trust before anyone has spoken to you. It makes the next step so obvious and so easy that booking a call feels like the natural thing to do.

We had a client, a counsellor in BC,  who was getting 1-3 consultation calls a week before her new site launched. After? She was fielding 4-10 every single week.

She didn't change her services. She didn't run ads. She didn't go viral on TikTok.

She just got a website that did what a website is supposed to do.

If you're putting in the work to show up and deliver incredible results for your clients, your website should be putting in the same energy.

Does yours?
